The Sankara Nethralaya Carl Zeiss center of Excellence in Medical Retina was inaugurated on the 28 th of March 03, marking another milestone in the field of Medical Education. It has also brought together two giants Viz, Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai which is one of the most modern Eye care hospital in India probably in the Asia , and another Giant Carl Zeiss Germany the world renowned manufacturer of most modern equipment in the field of Ophthalmology.
Under the collaboration of these two giants ultra modern equipment with latest technology like Stratus OCT , Fundus Imaging equipment VISUPAC, 451, High end Slit Lamps, Digital Fundus camera like Visucamlite , Frequency Doubled Yag Laser model Visulas 532 s etc., are supplied and installed by Carl Zeiss in this exclusive center for Retina, in the campus of Sankara Netralaya.
The inauguration program was a memorable event in which most of the elites of Chennai city like Mr.R.M Veerappan Ex Minister of T.N, etc. distinguished doctors in various fields like Dr.Mayilvahanam Natarajan, who is a world famous Orthopaedic surgeon, Dr.S,Natarajan from Bombay, who is a world famous Vitreo Retinal Surgeon, and other leading Ophthalmic surgeons like Dr.Madivanan, Dr.Arulmulzhi Verman , and other Aluminies of Sankara Nethralaya were the proud participants. Carl Zeiss was represented by Mr.Ven Raman COO , and Mr.Rajamani National Sales Manager of Carl Zeiss India.
Dr.S.Badrinath the Chairman of Sankara Nethralaya highlighted the concept of collaboration of the Hospital and Industry like Carl Zeiss and also the philosophy of the Nethralaya in serving the community. Mr.Ven Raman spoke about Zeiss philosophy and also the motive behind establishing such an important center in the field of Medical Retina at Nethralaya. He also highlighted the Vision and Mission of Carl Zeiss in the field of Eye care as well as preservation of Wild life.
The Program ended with all out appreciation by each and everyone for the success of the Center by providing education to the young and upcoming Eye Care Specialists.
