Robust and weatherproof metal construction
Its metal barrel and bayonet as well as elaborate protection against dust and spray make the lens perfect for shooting in demanding outdoor conditions – and also guarantee its constant readiness for many years of intensive use.

Aspherical Lenses and Extra-low Dispersion Glass
Compact yet extremely capable – ZEISS worked in close collaboration with Sony to create a high-precision lens, containing aspherical lenses as well as extra-low dispersion glass to ensure a portable size, while delivering exquisite image quality at the same time.

Optical Steadyshot
Optical Steady Shot (OSS) image stabilisation allows you to shoot clear, blur-free images in a wide variety of situations. Whether you are shooting handheld while zoomed in or in places with low levels of light, optical stabilisation significantly reduces the blur caused by camera shake. Also, OSS makes for images with less noise, as you do not have to boost ISO levels to compensate for a lack of light when in darker places.

Constant Aperture
Regardless of whether you’re shooting wide, or zoomed-in close on your subject, you can take advantage of a constant F.4 maximum aperture throughout the entire zoom range. This means you do not have to adjust the shutter speed or ISO settings when changing your focal length, which is of great value when shooting with manual exposure or working with aperture priority, for example.

Compact Full-Frame Lens
Take advantage of all the benefits of full frame photography with a compact lens that is as versatile as it is capable. Compared to an equivalent full frame SLR lens, it is light and small enough not to weigh you down. And it is also suitable for use on APS-C size camera bodies, but please note the crop factor when considering the angle of view.
