In this webinar, the sample preparation techniques for fluorescence microscopy will be discussed. Actual examples from the speaker's Ph.D. research work will also be discussed to explain various sample preparation techniques. Also, he will talk about frequently encountered problems in sample preparation. The presentation will end with a talk about preparing publication grade images.
- Know your cells, protein structure, and microscope
- Know your fluorescence spectra
- Standardize the sample preparation protocol
- Duration: 1 hour
- Speaker: Dr. Gaurav Barve, Ph.D. JNCASR, Bangalore
Dr. Gaurav Barve, Ph.D., JNCASR, Bangalore, India
Dr. Barve did his graduation and post-graduation in Microbiology from Department of Microbiology, University of Pune, India. He completed his Ph.D. degree from JNCASR, Bangalore, India. He was in the autophagy lab and under the guidance of Prof. Ravi Manjithaya, and discovered the role of septins in
autophagy in yeast. He has heavily used live cell as well as Immunofluorescence microscopy techniques for his research.
Recently, he got a post doctorate position at Edinburgh University, and will be working on the mechanism of cell polarity in fission yeast.
