Let’s relieve the tension. If you want to help your eyes relax and improve your posture despite hours of on-screen work, try ZEISS Office lenses. They’re made especially for your workplace and comfortable vision on the job.

Computer glasses, laptop glasses, office glasses, business glasses – they go by many different names. We call them ZEISS Office lenses, but they’re perfect for any situation that requires you to focus at fixed distances for long periods of time. Take a tour of the office to see some examples.

Engineered for what you look at most.

THE BOSS Barbara
View from the desk of an executive office. A monitor is mounted on a wall a few meters away. There’s a small meeting table with office chairs and laptops on the table.

Juggling emails and customer meetings face-to-face and online, Barbara opted for individualised business glasses by ZEISS. They are specially made for the distance from her desk to the screen mounted on the wall of her corner office – 3.2m to be precise.

THE RECEPTIONIST Rachel
Receptionists’ view of the office entrance. Her ZEISS Office lenses help her see clearly on her computer up to the entrance door.

Rachel does admin work but also needs to keep an eye on the door. Her workplace glasses by ZEISS are optimised for reading distances up to 4m – so she can welcome guests as they arrive for their appointments.

THE DETAILS MAN Dan

Dan builds intricate architectural models. His ZEISS Office glasses are optimised for clear vision up to 100cm to help him focus on the details of his masterpieces close up.

THE ACCOUNTANT Axel
Typical office scene in which a person is busy with reviewing spreadsheets and documents. Only the arms of the person are visible, holding a stack of spreadsheets in his hands. In the background on the desk is a laptop. At the top left of the image is a pop up which shows a male person. The person has grey hair and beard, wear ZEISS Office lenses and has a neutral facial expression.

Alone in an office reviewing spreadsheets and documents all day, Axel’s Office lenses by ZEISS are designed for clear vision for reading distances up to 100cm (unlike traditional reading glasses designed for 40-50cm).

THE GRAPHICS GUYS Greg & Grace
A young female sits opposite a middle-aged male graphic designer wearing ZEISS computer glasses. Both are focussing on their PC screens.

Greg’s computer glasses by ZEISS provide clear vision for reading distances up to 200cm. They’re optimised for a clear view of his multiple computer screens. But he can still see Grace, his favourite colleague, at the desk opposite him.

Why do you need special glasses for the office?

If you already wear single vision or progressive glasses, they certainly help you see better. They are probably the perfect choice when you’re out and about. But they may not be ideal for the many hours you spend at work each day.
Think about it: You would probably wear different shoes to go running than you would to a cocktail party. Some shoes are just better for certain activities. In the same way, some types of lenses are optimised for specific situations and environments – like driving glasses. Or glasses especially for your workplace.

Your regular glasses just don’t work for work.

  • Reading glasses

Reading glasses let you see objects clearly if they’re up close. But you may need to lean forward to read what’s on your screen. This could cause eye, neck and back strain.

  • Progressive lenses

Progressive lenses have a limited field of view for intermediate distances. You may need to lift your head to compensate – putting pressure on your neck and shoulders.

  • A middle-aged woman with long blonde hair wearing distance glasses is experiencing eye strain because her lenses are not made for staring at a screen all day.

    Distance glasses

Distance glasses aren’t ideal if you’re focusing on objects that are relatively close by. They make your eyes work harder to adjust, which could cause eye strain and irritation.

Any questions?

  • Our versatile ZEISS Office lenses are an ideal second pair just for work. Your optician can optimise them to the distance(s) you spend the most time looking – primarily your computer screen, but also any other areas where you need to focus for sustained periods of time. You simply wear them while you’re at work and switch to your regular pair when it’s time to go home.

  • Your regular reading, distance or progressive glasses might not be the ideal computer glasses. That’s because, at work, we often focus on fixed distances all day long. The best workplace glasses should feature optics tailored to your workplace and should help reduce exposure to blue light from digital devices. ZEISS Office lenses are designed to support your eyes at your preferred working distance(s), helping you maintain comfortable vision and a healthy head, neck and back posture. Add our ZEISS BlueGuard lens material to give your eyes the protection they need against blue light emitted by your screens.

  • Computer glasses are designed to reduce the strain on your eyes, neck, back and shoulders associated with long periods of time spent looking at a computer screen. The answer to this question depends on your current prescription and the amount of time you spend in front of your PC. Ultimately, the decision to get a different prescription for computer glasses should be based on your individual needs and the expert opinion of your optician. If you find yourself suffering from eye strain or headaches after long periods of computer use, then it may be worth considering getting a new prescription specifically tailored to computer use.
